TVB retrench 200, your favourite actors going to jobless soon. And HSBC increase interest rate

Hong Kong's dominant television broadcast station Television Broadcasts Limited is retrenching 200 employees to tide over the crisis. So will your favourite actors or actress being affected?

TVB's last retrenchment exercise was in 2003 when SARS struck. TBV says they will not be retrenching their artistes; the artistes are their financial tools. The retrenchment will only affect those working in the production team and the administrative staff.

At the same time, Hong Kong biggest bank HSBC is increasing its morgage interest rate, that means house owner got to pay for for the monthly install. And that also means if you are jobless or having a pay cut, many of them may not afford to pay the monthly installment. Even worst, the installment may come higher than the rental. So people may choose to rent rather than buy.
