Hong Kong over hundred years historical building -

This building has a long history, but now, it is renovated, and part of it being developed as a museum and opened to public.

Experience Hong Kong' unique Chinese Culture and Festivals

Hong Kong is blessed with numerous traditional Chinese Festivals during the coming months. Upcoming events include the:

Tin Hau's Birthday 天后诞: Tin Hau's birthday is celebrated to bring safety, security, fine weather and full nets during the coming year. There are celebrations at Tin Hau temples all over Hong Kong.

Birthday of Lord Buddha: Worshippers show their devotion throughout the day by bathing Buddha's statue.

Tam Kung's Birthday: His birthday festival is celebrated with considerable devotion and fanfare at the Tam Kung Temple in Shau Kei Wan on Hong Kong Island, which dates from 1905.

The weeklong festival climaxes with a large, carnival-like street procession featuring costumed children on stilts held aloft above the crowd, lion dances and other colourful participants.

These festivals can be incredibly colourful and noisy affairs, attended by thousands of people and include festive feasting, lion and dragon dancers, Chinese opera, carnivals and parades - all creating a fantastic experience - that's uniquely Hong Kong! Finally, the toursim board introduces this Ding Ding Hong Kong Tram Guide, that will tell you what to see, what to eat at every tram stops. At Sheung Wan 上环, you'll find an amazing array of traditional Chinese herbs and medicine shops that give you an insight into the look, smell and feel of how Hong Kong was 100 years ago.

Central 中环 is the seat of government and the city's banking and financial centre. Skyscrapers and marble shopping malls sit side by side with colonial heritage. It's here that you can discover the real charm and the legacy of this 'East meets West' cosmopolitan city.

Wan Chai 湾仔 has evolved from a fishing village into the most famous nightlife district in Hong Kong. As well as being a modern hub for art, culture and business.

Causewaybay 铜锣湾 is a mecca for style-conscious people hunting for the latest and hottest fashion items whether that's clothes, accessories or electronic gadgets.

Happy Valley 跑马地 is one of the few in-city race tracks in the world! Sitting in the stands, you're surrounded by high-rise residential buildings whose dazzling lights help create an amazing atmosphere!

Tin Hau 天后, Fortress Hill and North Point 北角 are predominantly residential areas where old traditions live alongside the hurly burly of modern-day Hong Kong.

Tai Koo Shing, Sai Wan Ho and Shau Kei Wan 筲箕湾 present a kaleidoscopic tourist experience. Enjoy great shopping, visit a couple of fascinating museums dedicated to Hong Kong moviemakers and coastal defence, and then top it off with a harbour-front alfresco dinner!

Chinese New Year at Sha Tin

The temple 车公庙 in Sha Tin 沙田 is one of the oldest temple in Hong Kong. So many people will come here during Chinese New Year, especially during the 3rd day (as it is not supposed to visit relatives or friends during 年初三), to pray for a better year ahead. The special of this temple is due to the little windmill 風車. Here got some photos, to let you see the temple, inside, outside, and of course, the crowd.

Hope everyone in good health condition, economics is doing better and everyone happy.

Now you can pray 黃大仙 online 網上祈福

Hong Kong 黃大仙 is the most famous temple in Hong Kong. Why? Because many people get whatever they want after requesting to 黃大仙. However, if you are oversea and afraid too much people (really long queue), you can now tell 黃大仙 all your wishes ONLINE!

All you need is to go to the website , follow the link (which I will provide you a direct link later), and key in your name, your email, and your wishes. Then they will manually burn the paper for you.

Click here to start your 黃大仙 網上祈福 direct link.

If you want to 接財神, these two posters may be userful to you.

Cheap, interesting and quality toys along Temple Street 庙街 at Yau Ma Tei 油麻地

I like to walk along the Temple Street 庙街 near Yau Ma Tei 油麻地 portion. This part is far away from the Jordan 佐敦 portion, where they are targeting foreign tourists. Along the Temple Street that is in between Yau Ma Tei and Jordan (all th way to Yao Ma Tei), you can find a lot of interesting stuffs, which are cheap and good quality.

However, in some cases, you can get the same toy at several stalls, make sure you check out all the stalls before you buy, as the price can differ a lot. For example, a toy car, the lowest can be just HKD 10, while the other sell at HKD 20 and one even at HKD 30. On the other hand, some toys, you will find that only one stall is selling. One of such is the wooden crave as follows:

He claimed that those are hand-made by him, and he can only make 2 per day. They are not cheap, one of those costs you about HKD 80. But it is nice because he craves the wood according ot the shape, so they are perfectly matched. Next is those colorful bottle opener, can you guess how much is it?

They are double sided, both side are painted colorfully. Each of them only HKD 10! And there are something funny as well, e.g. the chicken below:

Why I say intersting, look at the video below and you will know why:

Remember, get yourself some toys when you are here, many of them are cheap. But be sure you bargain the price and do more survey before you buy.

Hong Kong Antiquities and Monuments

If you like Antiquities and Monuments, then you may like Hong Kong. In fact, Hong Kong has spent quite a big effort on protect and preserve many traditional culture and monuments. If you are tourist, I strongly suggest you spend a day to one of these places, it helps you to appreacite Hong Kong besides the shopping. If you are local, it will be shame of you if you never been to any of these places.

The website of Antiquities and Monuments Office 古物古蹟辦事處 will provides you quite a number of information. Of course, to see all the monuments and traditional housing, Yuen Long 元朗, is an important places. The http://www.go2yl.com/ is a very good designed website that tell you everything about Yuen Long. They will suggest you some iternary on where to go depending on your preference. Another unofficial website is http://www.yl.com.hk/. You can find a lot of food information there.

The famous one is Ping Shan Tang Clan Gallery

Other than the above, you can take a look at other Heritage Trails, e.g. the Lung Yeuk Tau Heritage Trail

Tai O

Only a ten-minute walking distance from Mui Wo ferry pier, the Hotel is at a convenient location for fabulous sightseeing on this stunning outer island.

This site: http://www.1-hong-kong.com/hk/tai-o-01.htm provides quite a detailed information about Tai O.
