The shifting of financial center from Hong Kong Island to Kowloon
In recent years, there have a been a lot of discussion on the shifting of financial center from the expensive Hong Kong Island to Kowloon, and you can see some of the constructions is already on going. Such as this of land, right above Kowloon MTR station, with luxury condo housing, high-class shopping centers, express train services to airport and HK island. However, with the recent financial crisis, it would be interesting to see how can Hong Kong survive with this crisis.

Will the investment banks (sorry, no more investment), foreign banks continue to stay in Hong Kong? Maybe...
Such a high rental for a small stall
Look at these two very very small stalls, the owner ask for a rental of HK 10k and 8k (around USD 1250 to 1000) per month. The location is at Mong Kok, and the owner requires you to tell clothes, shoes, or bags only. No other things.
I look around, the other stalls selling clothes at the price range of HKD 100, so basically you need to sell 80 clothes per month in order to overcome the rental, that is about 2 clothes per day, and this is just to cover the rental, not your income yet.

New high rise housing project at Hong Kong
Every piece of land in Hong Kong is gold. To maximize the resources, new housing project are building up. Look at these two examples. At the Kowloon area. Both are at least 60 storeys tall. And the advantage of staying high above is the view from the windows. Basically those facing the harbour will be able to get a very nice view of the Hong Kong Central area day or night. And they can easily access the city central by train. Many new apartment and condominium in fact provide free shuttle services for the residents to the nearest MTR station.
Take a look at this on going project. Very impressive isn't it?
With the growing financial expert in Hong Kong, there will be more and more rich people, and soon you will see more and more such high end modern housing in Hong Kong.

How to add value to your property
Housing in Hong Kong can be considered as one of the most expensive in the world. If you owe a property, how are you going to add value to your property and get maximum return for that. Here is a very good example. Lets look at these two units at the same building, same floor. One on the left hand side, is very original condition; one on the right hand side, renovated and now is served as service apartment. Lets take a look at them.
After renovation, there are about 5 small rooms, each can be rented out seperately. And given a choice, which would you like to stay? I am sure the one below can request for a much higher rental than the above.
By just slightly renovate your property, you can get a much higher return. And if you can put your property online, you can get a higher rental by having those oversea to rent with you before they reach Hong Kong.
